The main thing i think Marxist history books are guilty of is being confusing and not understandable to the average reader, so definitely credit to him for trying to avoid that.

He also has a lot of intellectual Well written and thought provoking. He also has a lot of intellectual honestly, in that he fully admits that the book comes across as Western-centric solely because of his personal biases. I think that was an honest thing to acknowledge.

Really like his descriptions of ancient civilisations and their methods of exploitation as Marxist histories of ancient societies are not something I have come across before. It beautifully chronicles the failure of capitalism and more importantly, how capitalism has sabotaged revolutions throughout the annals of history.

Oct 06, John rated it it was amazing. A very nice work on the history of the world and a really creative one -a rare case on history books which makes this book a must read in Marxist literature. The list of works at the end of the book made me smile.
